Developed in mediaeval times to explain the gospel to a largely illiterate laity, the tradition of creating pictures from stained glass continues to this day.

Here are a selection of windows from the 1600's to the present day, including some modern examples of both sacred and secular glass that are, to me, as beautiful as any from the old cathedrals of Europe.
